01 / Who we are
A Nigerian publication.
A wider perspective.
The Bureau Journal is a digital news publication based in Abuja, covering Nigerian affairs with attention to Kogi State and developments across Africa and the wider world.
Our coverage includes politics and governance, business, agriculture, technology, education, security and community affairs. We publish news reports, explainers, analysis and opinion to help readers understand events and their practical implications.
Our aim is to add useful context through reporting, source attribution and clear explanations. When a story draws on an official statement, public document, interview or another publication, its source should be identified. Analysis and opinion should be distinguishable from factual reporting.
Make important news understandable. Give readers the context to form their own views.
Our mission is to make public-interest information accessible, explain its context and provide a clear route for readers to question our reporting or request a correction.

03 / Our standards
Trust is earned
in the details.
Sourcing and verification
We aim to check material claims against credible evidence, identify sources and distinguish allegations from established findings. Official statements are attributed; independent corroboration is sought where needed.
Corrections and updates
Readers can request a correction with the article URL, the disputed passage and supporting evidence. We review the concern and correct substantiated errors, with an explanatory note for material changes.
Fairness and right of reply
We seek relevant responses to significant allegations where practicable. Responses may be summarised accurately, and reporting may be updated when a substantive reply becomes available.
Clear editorial distinctions
News, analysis and opinion should be distinguishable. Opinion reflects its author’s views. Sponsored or paid promotional material should be labelled clearly, and relevant conflicts of interest disclosed.
Responsible use of material
Our approach prioritises accuracy, attribution, privacy and fair treatment. Images, quotations and third-party material should be used with appropriate rights, credit and context.
