The Zuru Emirate Council has clarified that the National Executive Committee of the Zuru Emirate Development Society (ZEDS) was dissolved because its tenure had expired, saying the decision was not intended to discredit the outgoing members.
In a statement by the Council Secretary, Alhaji Muhammad Yahaya Marafa, the council said the leadership had served in an acting capacity since 2022.
It explained that the clarification was necessary to prevent misinterpretation of the dissolution and described the outgoing members as honourable individuals who volunteered their time to serve the community.
Council Clarifies Reason for Leadership Change
The clarification follows the earlier announcement dissolving the ZEDS national executive and appointing new leadership.
That announcement had attributed the decision to concerns about the outgoing leadership’s performance. In its latest statement, the council identified the expiration of the acting leadership’s tenure as the reason for the dissolution and emphasised that the members should not be discredited.
Emir Thanks Outgoing ZEDS Members
The Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami Gomo III, expressed appreciation for the outgoing members’ sacrifices and commitment during their acting tenure.
He prayed that Allah would reward their service and grant them continued guidance.
The Emir also appealed to the former executives to support and cooperate with the new committee to sustain unity and advance the development of the emirate.
