Kogi State’s 21 local government councils were allocated a combined ₦16.44 billion in July 2026, with Okene receiving the largest share, according to official Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) data reviewed by The Bureau Journal.

Okene’s net allocation stood at ₦1.005 billion, followed by Dekina with ₦960.52 million and Ankpa with ₦913.53 million. Ogori/Magongo recorded the smallest allocation at ₦599.85 million.

The figures were extracted from the National Bureau of Statistics’ July 2026 FAAC disbursement dataset, published on September 30. The underlying allocation table describes revenue for June 2026 shared in July.

July was the latest complete council-level release verified for this report. The figures represent published net allocations rather than independent confirmation of deposits into individual council bank accounts.

The official spreadsheet lists net allocations covering statutory revenue, augmentation, net ecology receipts and Value Added Tax.

Okene, Dekina and Ankpa account for ₦2.88bn

The three largest allocations—Okene, Dekina and Ankpa—amounted to approximately ₦2.88 billion, representing about 17.51 per cent of the combined allocation to Kogi’s councils.

Ofu, Adavi and Okehi also recorded substantial allocations, at ₦840.94 million, ₦827.02 million and ₦826.12 million respectively.

At the lower end, Mopa-Muro was allocated ₦612.63 million, while Idah’s allocation stood at ₦667.74 million.

The figures provide a basis for residents to examine council finances alongside local priorities, including the household pressures highlighted in The Bureau Journal’s analysis of food prices and inflation in Kogi.

Naming discrepancy affects Lokoja entry

The Bureau Journal identified a naming discrepancy in the official spreadsheet. It lists a “Kogi” entry with ₦710.58 million and a separate “Koton Karfe” entry with ₦865.46 million, while omitting Lokoja by name.

The public allocation tracker OurLgaMoni identifies the ₦865.46 million figure as Lokoja’s allocation. OurNigeria separately associates the ₦710.58 million figure with Kogi/Koton Karfe.

The table above follows that mapping. However, the attribution of the ₦865.46 million entry to Lokoja remains subject to clarification of the official spreadsheet’s label.

Allocations place attention on grassroots spending

Monthly allocations are an important part of the resources available for local administration and public services. Assessing their impact requires examining council budgets, expenditure records and completed projects alongside the amounts allocated.

Education, healthcare, roads and economic opportunities remain prominent in Kogi’s development discussions. The Bureau Journal has reported on state-level infrastructure and agricultural support measures, bursary support for Kogi students and workers’ appeals over allowances and affordable housing.

Local government administration is also under scrutiny through a court case seeking four-year terms for elected council officials.

The allocation figures alone do not establish how the money was spent or whether individual projects were delivered. Those questions require a separate review of each council’s financial and implementation records.
