The substances were concealed among used vehicles and automobile spare parts in two separate 40-foot containers intercepted in September.

Customs Flags Concealment in Vehicle Cargo
Ivara said hiding the substances among vehicles and spare parts illustrated attempts by smugglers to exploit containerised cargo to move prohibited goods through Nigeria’s seaports.
He attributed the discoveries to sustained vigilance and cooperation between Customs and NDLEA personnel.
The interceptions add to other drug enforcement developments reported by The Bureau Journal, including the seizure of opioids in Taraba and arrests of suspected drug traffickers.
In a separate operation, the agency also uncovered a methamphetamine laboratory in Ebonyi, highlighting another aspect of its investigations into illicit drug production and distribution.
Seized Substances to Be Handed Over to NDLEA
The Customs spokesperson said the seized substances would be formally handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation in accordance with established procedures.
He described the interceptions as part of the agencies’ efforts to prevent drug smuggling through the country’s seaports and protect public health, safety and security.
