The Da Hannu Na political mobilisation group has alleged that its chairman, Jamil Jadda Garko, escaped a mob attack in Bauchi State after a solidarity rally for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The group, which operates under the Arewa for Asiwaju platform, said suspected thugs confronted its delegation over the weekend and disrupted planned visits to a correctional centre, a rehabilitation centre and an orphanage.
According to the organisers, security personnel intervened to prevent the confrontation from escalating.
Organisers Describe Bauchi Roadshow
The group said the rally attracted Tinubu supporters from the seven North-West states and involved a procession from the Government Reserved Area to the stadium and Double 4 Hall.
It said personnel of the Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and Federal Road Safety Corps provided security support during the procession.
The organisers alleged that members of the delegation were subsequently attacked, preventing them from completing their humanitarian programme.
The mobilisation forms part of the group’s activities ahead of the 2027 elections, alongside wider grassroots campaigns for Tinubu across northern Nigeria.
Group Plans to Report Incident to Senior Officials
Garko said the group intended to formally report the incident to Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.
Other officials named for notification included APC Presidential Campaign Council Director-General Senator Abdulaziz Yari and presidential aide Ibrahim Masari, alongside the APC Governors’ Forum.
The group said it would seek an investigation and appropriate action from the relevant authorities.
The organisers also alleged that the suspected attackers had links to the Bauchi State Government. No evidence establishing that connection or response from the state government was included in their account.
Relief Programme Could Not Proceed
The delegation had planned to distribute relief materials during visits to the correctional centre, rehabilitation centre and orphanage.
The organisers said the outreach was intended to assist vulnerable people while supporting the group’s political mobilisation activities.
They expressed concern that the alleged disruption could discourage peaceful engagement and prevent assistance from reaching intended beneficiaries.
Calls for peaceful political participation have also featured in Usman Jibrin’s condemnation of political violence in Ejule.
Details of Alleged Attack Await Clarification
The account did not establish whether anyone sustained injuries, whether arrests were made or the identities of those allegedly responsible.
No official response from the Bauchi State Government or security authorities addressing the allegations was included in the report.
