Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly agreed a club-record transfer deal worth €28 million plus an additional €2 million in performance-related add-ons to sign Nigerian winger Zadok Yohanna from Swedish club AIK.
The deal, which will keep the highly-rated youngster at Brighton until 2031, comes after the Seagulls fended off competition from fellow Premier League clubs Newcastle United and Chelsea.
Brighton Beat Premier League Rivals to Signature
Yohanna has emerged as one of the most exciting young talents in Scandinavian football following a series of impressive performances in Sweden’s Allsvenskan.
The Nigerian winger attracted attention from several top European clubs, but Brighton moved decisively to secure his services as part of the club’s long-term recruitment strategy focused on identifying and developing emerging talents.
The move underlines Brighton’s growing reputation as one of Europe’s smartest talent-development clubs.
Impressive Performances in Sweden
The 1.84-metre left-footed attacker enjoyed a strong breakthrough campaign with AIK, recording two goals and two assists across seven league starts.
Beyond his goal contributions, Yohanna ranked among the league’s best dribblers, consistently troubling defenders with his pace, close control, and ability to take on opponents in one-on-one situations.
His direct attacking approach and physical presence made him one of the standout performers in the Swedish top flight.
Perfect Fit for Fabian Hürzeler’s System
Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler is believed to view Yohanna as an ideal fit for the club’s aggressive pressing style and fast-transition attacking system.
The winger’s work rate, athleticism, and willingness to press opponents high up the pitch align closely with the tactical demands of the German coach.
Club insiders reportedly see Yohanna as a player capable of making an immediate impact while also possessing significant long-term development potential.
Another Brighton Recruitment Success Story?
Brighton have built a reputation for identifying talented young players before their market value explodes.
Previous success stories include midfielders Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister, who developed into world-class talents before securing major moves elsewhere.
Supporters will hope Yohanna can follow a similar trajectory and become the latest success story in Brighton’s acclaimed recruitment model.
The Bureau Journal understands that the deal is expected to be finalised once all contractual formalities and regulatory requirements are completed.
