Political mobilisation group Da Hannu Na has arrived in Bauchi State to seek Governor Bala Mohammed’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, alongside plans to pay fines for more than 150 inmates eligible for release.
The group, operating under the Arewa for Asiwaju platform, said its chairman, Jamilu Jadda Garko, was leading the visit to promote political dialogue and explore cooperation between the governor and the President.
It described the engagement as part of a wider effort to build alliances across party lines as preparations for the next general elections intensify.
Group seeks political understanding with Bala Mohammed
According to Da Hannu Na, the Bauchi initiative is intended to open a channel of engagement with Governor Mohammed and identify areas of common interest with Tinubu.
The group said Jadda Garko and his team were pursuing grassroots consultations that could encourage a political understanding between the two leaders.
It expressed optimism that such cooperation could influence political developments in Bauchi ahead of the polls.
However, the announcement did not include any commitment from Governor Mohammed to support Tinubu or indicate that a meeting with him had taken place.
Proposed outreach targets inmates unable to pay fines
Alongside its political activities, Da Hannu Na announced plans to visit a correctional centre, distribute gifts and assist inmates whose release could be secured through the payment of court-imposed fines.
The group said the proposed intervention would cover more than 150 inmates, whom it described as facing civil cases.
It did not provide a breakdown of the cases, the total sum required or the arrangements for identifying eligible beneficiaries.
The proposed payments and any subsequent release would depend on the circumstances of individual cases and the applicable procedures.
Da Hannu Na described the outreach as part of its humanitarian work to support vulnerable people facing financial difficulties.
Islamic scholars and Tsangaya teachers to be engaged
The group also plans to meet Islamic scholars and Tsangaya schoolteachers in Bauchi to discuss religious education and community development.
It said its wider religious outreach covers 13 states and approximately 300 Islamic and Tsangaya schools.
According to the group, the programme includes prayers for Tinubu, Nigeria and its leaders, with emphasis on peace, unity, security and development.
The Bauchi visit combines its stated political mobilisation objectives with religious engagement and a proposed correctional-centre intervention.
