Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has accused Hon. James Faleke of allegedly putting pressure on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to alter the outcome of the ongoing Osun State governorship election.
Davido made the allegation in a post on his X account on Saturday as the collation and uploading of results from the election continued across the state.
The singer alleged that Faleke was attempting to influence the electoral commission over the results of the Osun governorship poll, but did not provide publicly verifiable evidence in the post to substantiate the claim.
The allegation comes amid heightened political tension as results from polling units and collation centres continue to emerge following Saturday’s election.
Faleke, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been actively involved in the party’s political activities surrounding the Osun election.
The Osun governorship election is being closely watched as incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party seeks another term against APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, African Democratic Congress candidate Najeem Salaam and other contestants.
Davido has previously been vocal about developments surrounding the Osun election and has used his social media platform to raise concerns about issues connected to the poll.
The latest allegation comes as the Independent National Electoral Commission continues the process of receiving and collating polling-unit results. The commission’s IReV platform has been providing public access to uploaded results as the process progresses.
The Bureau Journal will continue to monitor the collation process and report verified developments as they emerge.
Note: Davido’s allegation against Faleke has not been independently established by The Bureau Journal. Faleke’s response, if issued, will be reported accordingly.
Hon. James Faleke, stop putting pressure on INEC to change Osun election result. Respect the wishes of Osun people. We don’t want Oyetola and AMBO
