The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Gombe State, Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, has called on political actors and supporters to maintain a clean, respectful and issue-based campaign ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Gwamna said the people of Gombe State deserve a political campaign that addresses their concerns, presents practical solutions and offers a clear vision for the future rather than one dominated by insults, personal attacks and unnecessary distractions.
Gwamna: Gombe Above All
In a statement issued on Thursday by his spokesperson, Ibrahim Sani Shawai, Gwamna said his campaign would remain people-centred, solutions-driven and focused on issues affecting residents across the state.
“From the very beginning, I made it clear that I will run an issues-based campaign. I have no interest in politics of insults, personal attacks, or needless distractions,” he said.
According to him, the commitment remains central to the direction of his campaign, with the principle of “Gombe Above All” serving as its guiding philosophy.
The call comes amid heightened political activity in Gombe State ahead of the 2027 election. The Bureau Journal recently reported on calls by a Gombe political coalition for peaceful and responsible political campaigns in the state.
Jobs, Agriculture, Healthcare, Education Top Campaign Agenda
Gwamna said his campaign would focus on issues including job creation, economic growth, youth and women empowerment, agriculture and livestock development, education, healthcare, infrastructure, entrepreneurship, investment and innovation.
He said these areas would form part of the broader policy conversation as political parties and candidates present their plans to the people of Gombe State.
The APC candidate also called on residents to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, who is seeking election to the Senate, as well as other APC candidates contesting for seats in the National Assembly.
Gwamna Pledges to Build on Inuwa Yahaya’s Record
According to Gwamna, the projects, programmes and interventions implemented by the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya provide the APC with a record to present to voters as part of its campaign for continued support.
He said his campaign would seek to consolidate what he described as the achievements of the present administration while introducing new ideas, policies and initiatives aimed at accelerating development.
Gwamna’s emphasis on continuity and consolidation is consistent with his earlier political messaging. In May, he reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, unity and sustainable development in Gombe State.
Gwamna to Unveil Gombe Development Blueprint
The APC candidate said he would unveil his comprehensive blueprint for Gombe State when the governorship and State Assembly campaigns formally commence.
He said the blueprint would be anchored on Continuity, Sustainability and Consolidation, with the objective of building on existing programmes while introducing practical solutions to create more opportunities and improve living standards.
“We believe that Gombe possesses the human and natural resources to become one of Africa’s leading sub-national economies, through visionary leadership, disciplined governance, and the collective efforts of our people,” he said.
Gwamna Urges Political Actors to Maintain Peace
Gwamna urged political parties, candidates, supporters and other stakeholders to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the election period.
He called for a campaign environment in which political differences would not be allowed to undermine the peace and unity of Gombe State.
He said the interest of the state should remain above individual political ambitions and differences, stressing the need for political actors to engage voters through policies, ideas and development plans.
Gombe 2027 Race Gathers Momentum
The latest statement comes as political activities intensify in Gombe State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Gwamna’s emergence as the APC governorship candidate has already generated significant political activity within the state, while other parties and political figures continue to position themselves ahead of the contest.
The Bureau Journal previously reported that another former adviser to Professor Isa Ali Pantami resigned and declared support for Gwamna’s governorship bid, a development that Gwamna’s camp described as a sign of changing political dynamics in the state.
As the 2027 election approaches, the candidates’ policy proposals, records, campaign conduct and ability to address the concerns of Gombe voters are expected to become increasingly important issues in the political debate.
