Governor Idris Commends Tinubu, Saudi Government
Speaking during the event, Kebbi State Governor, Nasiru Idris, expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for sustaining humanitarian interventions targeted at vulnerable citizens across the country. The governor also praised the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their continued support to communities affected by economic and humanitarian challenges. According to him, the intervention demonstrates a strong commitment to improving the welfare of citizens and supporting families facing difficult living conditions.“We appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his administration’s commitment to supporting vulnerable Nigerians through various humanitarian programmes. We are equally grateful to KSrelief and the Government of Saudi Arabia for their generosity and sustained support,” Governor Idris said.
Kebbi Continues to Benefit from Humanitarian Partnerships
Governor Idris noted that Kebbi State has consistently benefited from interventions coordinated by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and KSrelief, describing both organisations as reliable partners in delivering timely assistance to those in need. He explained that the latest intervention would provide relief to thousands of vulnerable households and complement ongoing efforts by the state government to improve living conditions across communities. The governor urged beneficiaries to utilise the food items for the intended purpose and warned against selling the relief materials. He further appealed to traditional leaders, community stakeholders and security agencies to ensure transparency in the distribution process and guarantee that the items reach the targeted beneficiaries.NEMA Reveals Allocation of Over 24,000 Food Baskets
Earlier, the Director-General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, represented by the Director of Special Duties, Hajiya Fatima Suleiman Kassim, disclosed that KSrelief donated a total of 24,302 food baskets for distribution across five Nigerian states. The states benefiting from the intervention include Kebbi, Benue, Anambra, Yobe and Taraba. According to her, Kebbi State received 4,399 food baskets designated for vulnerable households that had already been profiled under the programme. She explained that the initiative forms part of broader humanitarian efforts aimed at supporting vulnerable populations and strengthening food security across affected communities.Residents Advised to Prepare for Flooding Risks
Beyond the food distribution programme, NEMA used the occasion to sensitise residents on the increasing risk of flooding as the rainy season intensifies across parts of Nigeria. The agency urged residents to comply with early warning advisories, clear drainage channels around their homes and support community-based disaster preparedness initiatives. NEMA stressed that proactive measures would help reduce the impact of potential flooding and improve resilience among vulnerable communities. The intervention is expected to provide immediate relief to thousands of households while reinforcing collaboration between the Federal Government, international partners and the Kebbi State Government in addressing humanitarian challenges. The Bureau Journal reports that the distribution exercise will continue across designated communities to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive the support allocated to them.Get breaking news and latest updates directly on WhatsApp
