Police in Kogi State have arrested a driver after intercepting 400 wraps of suspected cannabis allegedly being transported from Edo State to Abuja.
The command’s spokesperson, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, saying officers from the Akpafa Division discovered the consignment during a routine stop-and-search operation in Magongo, Ogori-Magongo Local Government Area.
The suspect, identified as Abdulrahman, was driving a Honda with registration number FST 700 DH.
Police Trace Alleged Supply Route
According to the statement, preliminary investigations linked the suspect to the sale and distribution of cannabis, commonly called Indian hemp.
Police said Abdulrahman told investigators that a supplier known as “Biggy” provided the consignment in Edo State for delivery to buyers in Abuja.
The suspect reportedly valued the consignment at ₦3.2 million. That figure was attributed to his account.

Suspect and Exhibits Handed to NDLEA
The command said it had transferred Abdulrahman and the seized items to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and action.
Officers are also working to identify and arrest the alleged supplier and intended recipients to establish the wider distribution network.
The interception adds to drug enforcement operations reported by The Bureau Journal, including the seizure of opioids and arrests of suspected traffickers in Taraba and the discovery of a methamphetamine laboratory in Ebonyi.
Commissioner Commends Officers
Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Naziru Bello Kankarofi, commended the officers for their vigilance.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing, stop-and-search operations and cooperation with other agencies against drug trafficking.
The command urged residents to provide credible information that could help security agencies identify and dismantle criminal networks.
Other security operations in Kogi have included the interception of an arms cache.
