Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has won his polling unit in the ongoing governorship election, securing 421 votes.
Adeleke polled 421 votes at Ward 02, Polling Unit 009, Abogunde Compound, in Ede North Local Government Area of Osun State.
Supporters of the governor erupted in jubilation after the result was announced at the polling unit.
Adeleke Wins His Polling Unit
The result represents an early boost for Adeleke as sorting and collation continue across Osun State.
The governor had earlier expressed confidence in securing victory after casting his ballot at Sagba Abogunde Ward 2, Unit 9, in Ede North.
The development comes as The Bureau Journal continues to monitor the latest Osun election results and collation updates from across the state.
Oyebamiji Also Confident of Victory
All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji also expressed confidence in winning the election after casting his vote.
Oyebamiji voted at Ward 09, Unit 011, in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area, where he spoke to journalists after exercising his franchise.
With the three major contenders expressing confidence in victory, attention has now shifted to the ongoing sorting, collation and uploading of polling unit results.
ADC Candidate Raises Concern Over Agents
African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate Najeem Salaam, however, raised concerns over the alleged non-recognition of some of his party’s agents in several locations across Osun State.
The allegation comes as parties and their agents monitor the process at polling units and collation centres across the state.
INEC Continues Uploading Results
As of 5:24 p.m. on Saturday, 1,386 of the 3,763 expected polling unit results had been uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s IReV portal.
The figure represents about 36.83 per cent of the expected polling unit results, indicating that result uploads were continuing as officials proceeded with the collation process.
The Bureau Journal will continue to provide updates as more polling unit results are uploaded and official figures emerge from the collation process.
