Former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Oyibe Jibrin (retd.), has urged the Igala people of Kogi East to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Jibrin said eligible voters must obtain their cards to participate in the elections scheduled to begin with the presidential and National Assembly polls on January 16, 2027.
The appeal follows the commencement of nationwide collection of newly issued PVCs by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on October 9, 2026, after a registration exercise that reportedly produced more than 10.7 million new registrations.
Jibrin’s message also reflects his longstanding calls for unity among the Igala people. Speaking at the 2026 Truth, Peace and Reconciliation Summit in Idah, he urged the community to overcome divisions and work together towards its common interests.
The retired admiral has also been mobilising political support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections. He recently led a delegation of Kogi East stakeholders under the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) platform and pledged to work with other groups to secure support for the president.
Jibrin’s appeal places PVC collection at the centre of his mobilisation efforts, urging eligible voters in the region to obtain their cards before election day.
INEC has advised registered voters to follow its official guidelines on PVC collection and confirm their registration details ahead of the polls.
