Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has outlined plans for additional security deployments and military infrastructure during a two-day visit to communities affected by insecurity in Zuru Emirate, according to his Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment and Orientation, Ibrahim Abubakar Jombali.
In an account of the visit, Jombali said the governor met grieving families and concerned residents, discussed their security needs and provided support for affected communities.
He described the governor’s presence as a demonstration of solidarity with residents confronting violence and uncertainty.
Additional Armoured Vehicles and Troops Planned
According to Jombali, Idris outlined measures intended to strengthen security operations in vulnerable areas, including the deployment of additional armoured personnel carriers.
The governor also discussed collaboration with military authorities on establishing another Army Forward Operating Base and upgrading the military battalion in Birnin Kebbi to a brigade.
Other measures outlined included additional troop deployments to Zuru Barracks, the Yauri Forward Operating Base and Kaoje.

Relief Support for Affected Communities
Jombali said the visit included support and relief interventions running into hundreds of millions of naira.
His account did not provide an exact total or a breakdown of the assistance allocated to individual communities.
He also quoted an expression of appreciation from Wasagu Chiefdom, which thanked the governor for responding to its security challenges and providing humanitarian assistance.
“We are deeply indebted to you for your magnanimity, your prompt response to our security challenges, and, above all, your humanitarian gestures,” the chiefdom said, according to Jombali.
Aide Says Visit Reinforced Inclusive Governance
Jombali said the governor’s direct engagement with residents reinforced the principle that every community should receive attention, particularly during periods of distress.
He linked Idris’s approach to his background as a teacher and union leader, a theme also explored in Jombali’s World Teachers’ Day tribute to the governor.
The aide maintained that personal engagement could offer reassurance to families, while stressing that the lasting value of the announced security measures would depend on implementation.
Security concerns have previously affected other aspects of life in Kebbi, including school operations and measures to protect students.
Focus on Sustained Security
Jombali said restoring normal life would require sustained security operations so that farmers could return to their land, traders could travel safely and families could live without fear.
He described Zuru Emirate as an important agricultural and cultural part of Kebbi and urged continued attention to its security needs.
Community cohesion has also featured in engagements involving traditional institutions, including the discussion of development during Kebbi’s anniversary.
The governor’s wider public-service commitments have included teachers’ salaries and allowances and support for health-sector education in Jega.
For the communities visited in Zuru Emirate, Jombali said the immediate priorities remained relief for affected families and the sustained protection of lives and property.
