The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has sought the prayers, counsel and support of Kebbi State’s traditional rulers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Yari led a delegation that included Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal Dare and political leaders from the national and state levels to Government House, Birnin Kebbi, where Governor Nasir Idris received them.
Idris subsequently accompanied the visitors to the palace of the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar. The Emirs of Argungu, Yauri and Zuru also attended the engagement.
Yari Seeks Cooperation Ahead of Campaign
Addressing the gathering, Yari thanked Idris for bringing the traditional rulers together, saying the arrangement had eased the delegation’s consultations.
He explained that the council was engaging royal fathers while strengthening coordination among party leaders and support groups ahead of the elections.
The visit forms part of broader mobilisation for Tinubu’s re-election across Northern Nigeria.
Yari expressed confidence in the APC’s political structure in Kebbi and urged members to resolve differences, cooperate and sustain a common purpose.
He said the council intended to focus its campaign on the administration’s achievements, giving Nigerians the opportunity to assess its programmes and their impact.
Security Concerns Feature in Discussions
Yari acknowledged the security challenges affecting Kebbi and other parts of Nigeria, noting that insecurity predated the current administration.
He said federal and state governments were investing in security equipment and other interventions to address the threats.
In Kebbi, those efforts have included proposals for additional deployments and military facilities outlined during Idris’s visit to Zuru Emirate. Security infrastructure has also featured in discussions between the state government and traditional leaders.
Idris Reaffirms Support for Tinubu
Responding, Idris welcomed the delegation and thanked the four emirs for participating in the engagement.
He cited Federal Government projects and interventions in Kebbi as reasons to sustain cooperation with the Tinubu administration.
The governor maintained that the APC in the state remained united and that its prominent leaders were working together to support the President’s re-election.
Political endorsements in Kebbi have also included the teachers’ union’s backing for Idris, while workers’ welfare and competing campaign pledges continue to feature in the state’s political debate.
The Emir of Gwandu and the other traditional rulers offered prayers for President Tinubu’s re-election and the APC’s success in the 2027 general elections.
