The Chairman of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Musa Yaro Enabo, has donated vehicles and 225 motorcycles to support Governor Nasir Idris’ campaign activities and grassroots mobilisation by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Enabo presented the keys to the governor at Government House, Birnin Kebbi, saying the donation would ease transportation difficulties and improve coordination among party officials.
He said the motorcycles would be distributed to APC ward chairmen, while the vehicles would be allocated to key party stakeholders.
Enabo explains purpose of donation
The agency chairman said he had planned the intervention over time as his contribution to the party’s campaign logistics and political participation in the state.
“Your Excellency, I have been making deliberate efforts and undertaking long-term plans to achieve this objective and contribute to strengthening democracy in the state,” he said.
According to him, providing transport would help party officials move between communities and carry out their mobilisation responsibilities more effectively.
The donation comes as political preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 governorship contest in Kebbi. Support for the governor has also featured in the Kebbi teachers’ union’s endorsement of Idris.
Chairman denies using pilgrims’ funds
Addressing allegations about the source of funding, Enabo said the vehicles and motorcycles were purchased with support from the governor and other individuals.
He denied that money belonging to pilgrims had been used for the donation, maintaining that those funds remained intact and properly accounted for.
“I was able to purchase all these vehicles and motorcycles through the support of the Governor and other individuals. Some people have alleged that pilgrims’ funds were used, but I wish to state categorically that the funds belonging to pilgrims remain intact and are properly accounted for,” he said.
Idris welcomes campaign support
Governor Idris thanked Enabo for the donation, describing it as a demonstration of commitment to the party’s activities.
He encouraged other stakeholders to contribute to the APC’s collective efforts and urged the chairman to remain focused despite criticism.
“Those who criticise you should not distract you from your commitment and contributions to the state. Remain focused and do not allow the opposition or anyone seeking to discourage you to derail your efforts,” the governor said.
The exchange follows wider political debate over the administration’s record, including disagreements over workers’ welfare and opposition campaign pledges and the governor’s aide’s response to criticism of Kebbi’s budget.
The presentation included Lexus jeeps for the Kebbi State APC Chairman and the party’s Kebbi Central Zonal Vice Chairman.
The vehicles are intended to support movement and coordination within the party’s campaign structure, alongside the broader grassroots mobilisation efforts for President Bola Tinubu in Northern Nigeria.
