Popular social media personality and relationship therapist Nkiru Blessing Okoro, better known as Blessing CEO, is reportedly facing a personal tragedy after her second son, identified as Bryann, allegedly died following an asthma attack while she remained in custody.
The reported development emerged on Friday, September 25, amid an appeal for financial assistance to secure Blessing CEO’s release so she can reportedly return home to mourn her son.
Isamira Agiye, who is involved in efforts to secure her release, reportedly shared the appeal and said Blessing CEO had learned of her son’s death while in detention.
According to reports circulating online, an audio recording purportedly featuring Blessing CEO’s voice also surfaced in which she spoke about the loss.
However, the reported death has not, at the time of publication, been independently confirmed by the Nigerian Correctional Service, police, a hospital or another official authority.
Family Appeals for N56m
The reported tragedy has coincided with an appeal for about ₦56 million to facilitate Blessing CEO’s release.
According to Agiye’s appeal, ₦20 million is required to meet bail conditions, while another ₦36 million is being sought in connection with complainants in one of the legal cases against the social media personality.
The appeal reportedly urged members of the public to put aside their views about Blessing CEO and support efforts to enable her to leave custody and mourn her son.
The appeal also said the family was hoping she could be released in time to see her son and participate in his final farewell.
What Is Known About Blessing CEO’s Detention
Blessing CEO has been facing multiple criminal proceedings brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In one case before the Federal High Court in Lagos, she was arraigned in May 2026 on two counts relating to an alleged ₦36 million property transaction. She pleaded not guilty to the charges. The EFCC alleged that she obtained the money under false pretences in connection with the lease of a property in Lekki.
During proceedings, her lawyer told the court that ₦24 million had been refunded to the nominal complainant. The prosecution, however, maintained that the criminal proceedings should continue.
In June, Justice Deinde Dipeolu granted Blessing CEO bail of ₦10 million with two sureties in like sum in that separate ₦36 million case.
She subsequently faced another case before the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja involving an alleged ₦69.15 million property fraud. The EFCC alleged that she obtained the money from Hope Chiropractic Health Clinic Limited in connection with a proposed five-year lease of a Lekki property. She pleaded not guilty.
Another Case Keeps Her in Custody
Her continued detention is also linked to a separate EFCC case involving allegations that she obtained about ₦13 million from members of the public by claiming she had a terminal illness.
The EFCC also accused her of forging a medical document allegedly used to support the fundraising claims.
Blessing CEO pleaded not guilty to the six-count charge when she was arraigned before Justice Yellim Bogoro of the Federal High Court in Lagos.
The court ordered that she be remanded in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service and fixed September 24, 2026, for trial.
Death Report Emerges Amid Fundraising Appeal
The timing of the reported death and the ₦56 million appeal has generated intense discussion online, with some members of the public questioning the circumstances surrounding the fundraising effort.
Those questions, however, should not be treated as proof that the reported death is false or that the fundraising appeal is fraudulent.
At present, the publicly available reports establish that a person identified as Isamira Agiye has made the appeal and that reports are circulating that Blessing CEO’s son died after an asthma attack. They do not provide independent official documentation establishing the cause or circumstances of the child’s death.
The Bureau Journal will therefore treat the development as a reported death pending independent confirmation.
Public Attention Turns to the Family
The report has added a deeply personal dimension to a legal saga that has already attracted widespread attention because of Blessing CEO’s large social-media following and the multiple criminal allegations against her.
Whatever the outcome of the legal proceedings, the reported death of a child is a separate matter from the allegations before the courts. Blessing CEO remains entitled to due process, while the claims made against her remain matters for judicial determination.
For now, the central unanswered question is whether the reported death can be independently confirmed and whether the ₦56 million appeal will result in her release from custody.
Until authoritative confirmation emerges, the circumstances surrounding the reported death and the fundraising appeal should be treated with caution.
