Ten States Have More Than Three Million Registered Voters Each
The breakdown places Lagos, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Rivers, Oyo, Delta, Benue, Ogun and Bauchi above the three-million mark.
Lagos and Kano are the only states with more than six million registered voters each. Kaduna follows with more than four million, while Katsina, Rivers, Oyo and Delta each exceed 3.5 million.
At the other end, Cross River, Kwara, Ebonyi, Gombe, Yobe, Bayelsa and Ekiti each have fewer than two million registered voters. The FCT also falls within that range.
The figures show the size of each jurisdiction’s potential electorate. They do not establish how many voters will participate or which candidates they will support.
Kogi Ranks 25th, Kebbi 22nd
Kogi’s 2,232,398 registered voters place it 25th in the nationwide ranking, immediately below Taraba and above Zamfara.
Kebbi ranks 22nd with 2,309,503 voters, ahead of Abia and behind Osun.
Voter mobilisation has already featured in The Bureau Journal’s coverage of Admiral Usman Jibrin’s appeal for Nigerians to take PVC collection seriously and Muhammed Abdullahi’s registration campaign in Kogi East.
Registration Strength Depends on Turnout
A larger register gives a state a larger pool of potential voters, but election-day participation remains decisive. PVC collection, successful accreditation and turnout determine how many registered citizens ultimately cast ballots.
The figures therefore provide a basis for examining electoral participation across the country, rather than predicting party victories.
Election preparations also include INEC’s recruitment of ad hoc staff and constituency adjustments, including the restoration of four State Assembly constituencies in Kogi and Delta.
