Controversial street-hop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has apologised to the organisers and fans after abruptly walking out of his celebrity boxing rematch against actor Charles Okocha.

Portable Leaves Boxing Rematch After First Round

The highly anticipated celebrity boxing contest, organised by Balmoral Group, ended in an anti-climax on Friday night after Portable declined to continue the bout following the opening round.

His decision to leave the contest disappointed fans and supporters who had gathered to watch the much-publicised rematch between the singer and actor.

Portable’s Management Apologises to Fans and Organisers

In a statement issued on Saturday by his management, Zeh Nation/Dr Zeh, the singer apologised to the organisers, event crew, supporters and everyone who attended the celebrity boxing event.

The management acknowledged the disappointment caused by the outcome of the fight and Portable’s decision to step away after the first round.

“We sincerely apologise to the organisers, Balmoral Group, the entire event team, our fans, friends, family, and everyone who came out to support Portable at tonight’s celebrity boxing event,” the management said.

Management Urges Public to Respect Portable’s Decision

While acknowledging the disappointment surrounding the incident, Portable’s management appealed to members of the public to respect the singer’s decision.

“We understand the disappointment caused by the outcome of the fight and by Portable’s decision to step away after the first round. While emotions can run high in moments like these, we respectfully ask everyone to respect his decision and perspective,” it said.

‘We Take Full Responsibility’

The singer’s management also accepted responsibility for the incident and expressed regret over the disappointment caused to the organisers, supporters and other stakeholders.

“On behalf of Portable’s management, we take full responsibility for the disappointment this may have caused. We remain grateful for the unwavering love and support shown to him throughout this journey,” it added.

The Bureau Journal reports that the celebrity boxing rematch had attracted significant attention ahead of the event, but Portable’s decision to leave after the opening round brought the contest to an unexpected end.
