Drama don burst online! A messy relationship controversy involving gym instructor Dennis Emmanuel and social media feminist Folakemi Martins has taken a fresh turn, with both sides giving sharply different accounts of what allegedly happened between them.
Emmanuel, who says he is married, took to X to publicly accuse Martins of harassment, stalking and allegedly trying to interfere with his marriage after their relationship reportedly came to an end.
But Martins has strongly disputed his version of events, insisting that she never agreed to be his “side chick” and claiming she did not know he was married when their relationship started.
And that is where the matter gets interesting.
‘I Told Her I Was Married’
According to Emmanuel’s account, he and Martins began seeing each other on May 9, 2026.
He alleged that he had told her from the beginning that he was married and was looking for a “side chic”, claiming that she understood and accepted the arrangement.
Emmanuel subsequently shared screenshots which he said were conversations between the two of them.
Some of the alleged chats contained intimate discussions and messages in which Martins reportedly expressed a desire to see him again.
One message attributed to her read:
“Why is it that you went off when I was asking for your hand in marriage?”
Other screenshots allegedly showed Martins asking about when they would meet again.
Emmanuel also claimed that the relationship became problematic after Martins allegedly began demanding more attention and affection from him.
‘I Have to Beg for Affection’
In one of the alleged conversations, Martins reportedly complained about Emmanuel’s lack of attention and affection.
She was quoted as saying:
“You have made it clear severally that you want nothing to do with me, but I’m the one that refused to listen, hoping for the best.”
She allegedly added that she had to “beg for intimacy”, video calls, clarity, meetings and even ordinary goodnight messages.
Emmanuel, however, said he eventually decided to end the relationship.
He attributed the decision to what he described as Martins’ aggressive and condescending behaviour.
But according to his account, things allegedly became more complicated after the breakup.
‘She Was Stalking Me and My Wife’
Emmanuel alleged that Martins continued contacting him after he had ended the relationship.
He further claimed that Martins and some of her friends began following him and his wife on social media.
In an especially dramatic part of his account, Emmanuel alleged that Martins showed up at his residence alongside unidentified men.
“Fola is at my place now with stranger men banging my doors heavily. I don’t know who they are and I won’t open the door!”
He said he eventually decided to make the dispute public because he believed it had moved beyond a private relationship problem.
According to him, the situation was affecting his reputation, home, wife and family.
But Folakemi Martins Has a Completely Different Story
Martins has rejected Emmanuel’s version of events.
Speaking to Saturday PUNCH, she reportedly said she never agreed to be a side chick and was unaware that Emmanuel was married when their relationship began.
“I never agreed to be a side chick and was never aware of any marriage,” she said.
Martins also indicated that she was gathering evidence and pursuing the matter through legal channels.
She reportedly declined to give extensive details about her side of the controversy, saying she would provide further information when permitted by the court.
“I’m currently working on enough proof and doing everything legally,” she said.
Social Media Users Don Enter the Matter
As expected, Nigerians on X did not wait for an invitation before entering the matter.
Several users criticised Emmanuel over his admission that he had been involved with another woman while married.
One user, @AtuanyaKene, said he had little sympathy for Emmanuel because of the alleged infidelity, arguing that the married man had created the situation by cheating.
Another user, Adeleke Bolanle, questioned Emmanuel’s decision to become involved with Martins and suggested that the affair had opened the door to further complications involving his family.
Other users also questioned why Emmanuel chose to take the dispute public, particularly given that his wife was likely to be exposed to the controversy.
One commenter, @Orev_a, asked why a married man would risk embarrassing his wife by getting involved with another woman.
The Drama Is Far From Over
For now, both sides appear to have very different accounts of how the relationship started, what each person knew and what happened after it ended.
Emmanuel has presented screenshots and accused Martins of harassment and stalking.
Martins has rejected his central claim that she knowingly entered a relationship with a married man and says she is gathering evidence while pursuing the matter legally.
With both parties indicating that more information may emerge through legal proceedings, Nigerians online are already waiting for the next chapter of the drama.
And judging by how this matter has started, social media no fit sleep until everybody tells their own side of the story.
