The National Youth Coalition for Good Governance has passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, describing his administration as reform-driven and focused on repositioning the Corps for improved service delivery.
The coalition, in a statement signed by its President, Comrade Daniel Ameh, said Prof. Audi had introduced a number of reforms aimed at strengthening the professionalism, welfare and operational capacity of personnel since assuming office.
According to the group, the NSCDC under Audi has recorded improvements in personnel welfare, training, infrastructure, operational coordination and institutional accountability.
The coalition specifically highlighted enhanced welfare packages, prompt payment of personnel entitlements and insurance provisions as some of the measures it attributed to the current leadership.
It also cited continuous local and international training and retraining programmes, saying these initiatives have contributed to improving the professional capacity and discipline of officers and men of the Corps.
On infrastructure, the group noted the construction and renovation of command facilities, training institutions and the extension of the Corps’ National Headquarters as part of the administration’s development efforts.
The coalition further commended what it described as the Commandant General’s emphasis on transparency, accountability and measures against extortion and bribery within the Corps.
It said the NSCDC had also strengthened collaboration with other security agencies, particularly in areas involving the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, combating oil theft and vandalism, as well as responding to farmer-herder conflicts.
The group also highlighted what it described as increased opportunities for women and young people in the Corps’ leadership and operational activities.
“Prof. Audi has demonstrated a commitment to institutional reform, personnel development and national security,” the coalition stated.
Based on these developments, the National Youth Coalition for Good Governance said it had resolved to pass a vote of confidence in the Commandant General.
The group also appealed to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to continue to provide the necessary support for the NSCDC leadership to sustain its ongoing reforms.
The coalition described Prof. Audi as a national asset whose contributions to national security and service delivery, in its view, deserve continued recognition and support.
