Joheirry Mola Dominguez of the Dominican Republic has been crowned Miss World 2026, bringing the prestigious international title back to the Caribbean nation more than four decades after its first victory.
Mola was crowned on Saturday, September 5, at the Miss World 2026 grand finale in Nha Trang, Vietnam, emerging ahead of contestants from around the world to claim the coveted title.
Her victory gives the Dominican Republic its second Miss World crown. The country’s first came in 1982, when Mariasela Álvarez won the title.
Mola succeeds Thailand’s Opal Suchata Chuangsri, who won Miss World in 2025.
Joheirry Mola Beats 110 Contestants to Win the Crown
The 2026 competition featured 111 contestants, with candidates progressing through a series of challenges and stages before the final six were selected.
Mola ultimately emerged as the winner, while Spain’s Elisabeth Reynés Alabern was named first runner-up and Malaysia’s Taanusiya Chetty finished as second runner-up.
The final six also included Vietnam’s Lê Nguyễn Bảo Ngọc, South Africa’s Romanda Hombir and Eritrea’s Snit Habteab Tewoldemedhin.
The result capped weeks of competition involving beauty, communication, talent, sports and social-impact activities, reflecting the modern Miss World format that places increasing emphasis on contestants’ work beyond the stage.
Who Is Joheirry Mola?
Beyond the pageant spotlight, Mola has built a profile around education, communication and community advocacy.
According to her official Miss World profile, she holds a degree in Business Management and Administration from Universidad Iberoamericana and works as a Literature and Social Studies teacher. She is also a news correspondent and professional model.
Mola is the founder and president of Voices of Tomorrow, an initiative focused on expanding English-language education for children and young people in vulnerable communities.
She has also worked as a correspondent for Univision New York’s Ventana a Quisqueya, where she highlights Dominican culture, social issues and community stories.
Her Miss World Journey Was About More Than the Crown
Mola entered the competition with a platform built around education, empathy and social responsibility.
Her community work fits into the Miss World organisation’s long-running Beauty With a Purpose philosophy, which encourages contestants to use their visibility to support social causes.
Before travelling to Vietnam for the global competition, Mola had already been involved in community initiatives in the Dominican Republic.
In January, she visited the Niños de Cristo Orphanage alongside former Miss World Dominican Republic Mayra Delgado and Mr World Dominican Republic Julio Peña, spending time with children during the Three Kings’ Day celebration.
The experience reflected the kind of community engagement that has become central to her public identity.
From Dominican Republic Beauty Queen to Miss World
Mola’s international breakthrough followed her coronation as Miss World Dominican Republic in 2025.
She represented Distrito Nacional when she won the national title at an event held at the Barceló Punta Cana Convention Center, earning the opportunity to represent the Dominican Republic at the 2026 Miss World competition.
Her journey subsequently expanded beyond traditional pageant appearances. She appeared at major Dominican cultural and entertainment events and also worked as a presenter for Univision during the 2026 Premios Soberano ceremony.
That combination of media experience, education and community advocacy gave Mola a broader platform before she arrived at the Miss World final.
A New Chapter for the Dominican Republic
The victory is significant for the Dominican Republic because it ends a 44-year wait for another Miss World title.
For a country whose international image is closely associated with tourism, music, baseball and Caribbean culture, Mola’s victory provides another moment of global visibility.
Her success also adds to the growing international interest in beauty competitions as platforms through which contestants promote social causes, cultural identity and community projects.
