BIRNIN KEBBI, Nigeria — Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State have defended and celebrated the emergence of Governor Nasir Idris as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 elections, The Bureau Journal reports.

The affirmation ceremony, held at the Haliru Abdu Multipurpose Stadium in Birnin Kebbi, attracted thousands of party supporters, political leaders, and government officials from across the state.

Massive Turnout at APC Affirmation Event

Special Adviser to the Governor, Abdullahi Idris Zuru, described the gathering as a major political event attended by party faithful from all 21 local government areas of Kebbi State.

He said the large turnout reflected continued confidence in Governor Idris and support for the continuity of his administration.

According to him, the atmosphere at the stadium resembled a carnival as supporters, youth groups, women associations, and political stakeholders gathered for the exercise.

APC Delegation Commends Unity in Kebbi

A delegation from the APC national headquarters supervised the affirmation process. The team was led by former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Alhaji Abdulmalik Muhammad.

Speaking during the event, Abdulmalik said the level of unity and support shown by party members demonstrated widespread acceptance of Governor Idris’ leadership.

“Considering the calibre of politicians we have seen and the massive crowd of party loyalists, there appears to be an undisputable consensus for the continuity of Comrade Governor Nasir Idris,” he said.

Governor Idris Officially Affirmed

As part of the formal affirmation process, party members at the stadium openly endorsed Governor Idris as the APC governorship candidate for the 2027 elections.

The declaration was greeted with loud cheers from supporters who repeatedly chanted slogans backing the governor’s second-term ambition.

Political Leaders Rally Behind Governor

Among those present at the event were former governors, serving and former lawmakers, ministers, political appointees, labour leaders, and representatives of various social and cultural groups.

Many of them praised the governor’s administration for infrastructure development, social welfare programmes, and economic initiatives across the state.

Governor Promises More Development

In his acceptance speech, Governor Idris thanked party members and residents for their continued support and confidence in his administration.
