The governorship ambition of Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna has received another boost ahead of the 2027 election, following an endorsement by a coalition of Tsangaya Qur’anic scholars, popularly known as Alarammomi, across Gombe State.
The endorsement reportedly attracted more than 2,000 scholars, members and students from different parts of the state, with the group pledging to mobilise 150,000 votes for Gwamna.
The development adds to the growing political activities surrounding the Gombe 2027 governorship race as aspirants and their supporters intensify consultations and grassroots mobilisation across the state.
Tsangaya Scholars Declare Support for Gwamna
The coalition’s endorsement was presented as a show of support for Gwamna’s governorship aspiration and his engagement with communities across Gombe State.
The Tsangaya community comprises Qur’anic scholars, teachers and students operating through traditional Islamic learning institutions across many communities in northern Nigeria.
Supporters of Gwamna described the endorsement as an indication of growing grassroots interest in his political ambition ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The reported pledge of 150,000 votes, however, remains a commitment attributed to the endorsing group and should not be interpreted as a guaranteed election result. The actual outcome of the election will ultimately depend on voters at polling units across Gombe State.

Gombe 2027 Political Activities Intensify
The endorsement comes as political consultations and mobilisation increase ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Gombe State is expected to witness heightened political activity as aspirants seek to strengthen their relationships with communities, political stakeholders, religious groups, youth organisations and other sections of the electorate.
The growing political activity is part of a wider national build-up to the 2027 elections, with aspirants and political parties already positioning themselves ahead of the polls.
Endorsements from organised groups can provide political visibility and help candidates strengthen their campaign structures. However, such endorsements do not automatically translate into votes.
Grassroots Mobilisation Takes Centre Stage
For Gwamna’s supporters, the endorsement represents another opportunity to expand his grassroots network across Gombe State.
The involvement of Tsangaya scholars is particularly significant because Qur’anic education remains deeply rooted in many communities across the state and the wider northern region.
Political candidates seeking the governorship will need to engage with different constituencies and convince voters of the credibility of their programmes, leadership experience and plans for the state’s development.
As the 2027 political landscape continues to take shape, issues such as employment, education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, security and economic development are expected to feature prominently in the campaign debate.
150,000-Vote Pledge Faces Election-Day Test
The reported pledge of 150,000 votes is one of the most significant claims arising from the endorsement, but its electoral value will ultimately be tested at the polls.
Individual voters remain free to make their choices regardless of endorsements issued by political, religious or community groups.
For Gwamna and his supporters, the immediate challenge will be to translate the reported endorsement into sustained grassroots engagement and convince voters across the state’s local government areas of the merits of his candidacy.
The endorsement also illustrates the increasingly competitive nature of the Gombe 2027 governorship contest, with political actors seeking support from different organised constituencies.
Voters Will Have the Final Say
While endorsements can influence political conversations and strengthen campaign mobilisation, the final decision remains with the electorate.
The 2027 governorship election will provide voters with the opportunity to assess the candidates, their records, their policy proposals and their ability to address the challenges facing Gombe State.
For now, the endorsement by the Tsangaya scholars adds another development to the growing political activity surrounding Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna ahead of the 2027 election.
Whether the reported 150,000-vote pledge translates into actual votes will ultimately be determined by the people of Gombe State when they go to the polls.
Editor’s Note: The 150,000-vote figure is a pledge attributed to the endorsing coalition and is not an independently verified forecast of the 2027 election result.
