Edo State All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, has threatened to spit in the faces of opposition presidential candidates Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, while declaring his personal hatred for Obi.
Tenebe made the remarks during an interview in which he defended President Bola Tinubu’s administration and addressed his earlier “AK-47 fire” comment.
He said he would confront the opposition figures over their criticism of the President.
“If I see them, I will spit in their faces,” he said.
Tenebe Directs Further Threats at Obi
The Edo APC chairman singled out Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing him of insincerity.
He repeated his declaration of hatred and threatened to bite the former Anambra State governor.
“As for Obi, I hate him, and I maintain that. If I see him, I will spit in his face and bite his nose,” Tenebe said.
He went further to threaten to bite Obi’s ear while pretending to approach him for a conversation.
APC Chairman Questions Obi–Kwankwaso Partnership
Tenebe also questioned Obi’s political partnership with his NDC running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
He cited what he described as differences in their positions on alcohol consumption, arguing that those differences raised questions about their ability to govern together.
Atiku, whom Tenebe also targeted, is the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). His party has been organising its election structure through the ADC presidential campaign council.
Remarks Come Amid Intensifying Political Exchanges
Tenebe’s comments come as political organisations expand their preparations for the 2027 elections, including grassroots mobilisation for Tinubu.
Support for the President has also featured in statements by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who has explained that his backing for Tinubu does not automatically extend to every APC candidate.
Elsewhere, calls for peaceful political participation have included Usman Jibrin’s condemnation of political violence in Ejule and his appeal for unity during an Idah summit.
The supplied account did not include responses from Obi, Atiku or Kwankwaso to Tenebe’s remarks.
