Ogun 2027: INEC Leaves PDP’s Ladi Adebutu Off Governorship List

The names of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate Ladi Adebutu and his running mate, Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo, are absent from the final list of Ogun State governorship candidates published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), according to Daily Trust.

The newspaper reported that its examination of INEC’s portal showed 13 governorship candidates and their running mates on the list, without the PDP pair.

The document was signed by INEC Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony.

Yayi and His Running Mate Listed

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, appeared on the final list alongside his running mate, Kudirat Abiodun Balogun.

Jimi Lawal, described in the report as an ally of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, was listed as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate.

The publication comes amid wider preparations by political parties for 2027, including the ADC’s presidential campaign arrangements involving El-Rufai.

Thirteen Parties Represented on Ogun List

Besides the APC and ADC, the parties whose candidates appeared were A, AA, ADP, APM, APP, BP, NDP, NNPP, NRM, SDP and YPP.

The account did not state why Adebutu and Sowunmi-Kolapo were omitted or provide an explanation from INEC or the PDP.

The reported absence therefore does not, on its own, establish the reason for the omission.

Candidate nominations have also attracted attention elsewhere, including the APC’s senatorial selections, the dispute surrounding the Kogi West senatorial ticket and the party’s choice for Kogi East.

For voters in Ogun, the final candidate list identifies the published choices ahead of the governorship contest, against the background of the 2026 voter register across the states and the Federal Capital Territory.
