A prominent Hausa community leader and peace advocate, Ambassador Hajiya Samira Bala Usman, popularly known as “Tauraruwar Kasar Hausa” and “Jagaban Matan Najeriya,” has urged women and youths across Nigeria to actively participate in the 2027 general elections and vote for leaders committed to the development of the country.

Samira made the call while speaking on the need for peaceful participation in the forthcoming electioneering process, stressing that women and young people have a critical role to play in determining the quality of leadership that emerges at all levels of government.

Her appeal comes as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 political season, with political parties, aspirants and various interest groups beginning to mobilise supporters across the country.

Samira Urges Nigerians to Vote for Competent Leaders

The Hausa community leader urged eligible voters to exercise their constitutional rights responsibly by supporting candidates based on their competence, integrity, patriotism and commitment to public service rather than personal or material inducements.

According to her, voters should not allow themselves to be influenced by temporary gifts or small financial incentives that could ultimately have negative consequences for their communities.

“Young men and women, come out and vote for what will develop this country. Do not accept small gifts that are worthless. Because it will harm your local government, your state and your country, and plunge you into hardship for the next four years,” she said.

Samira’s comments come amid growing discussions about voter participation, accountability and the importance of credible leadership as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 elections.

Women Have Critical Role in 2027 Elections

The peace advocate also appealed to women across the country to participate actively in the electoral process and vote for leaders who would govern with justice, integrity and patriotism.

She stressed that women should not remain on the sidelines during elections, noting that their participation is important in determining the direction of governance at the federal, state and local government levels.

She encouraged women to carefully assess candidates and consider their records, competence and commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians before casting their votes.

Samira Warns Youths Against Political Violence

Samira particularly warned young Nigerians against allowing politicians or political interests to recruit them for violence, unrest or other activities capable of threatening peace and security in their communities.

She said some politicians only remember young people during election campaigns and abandon them after securing political office.

“Those who will get you to do the wrong thing, once they win the election they will no longer recognize you. They will not help you with education, or jobs, or anything that will improve your lives. They only use you during election campaigns,” she stated.

Her warning comes as concerns over security and political violence in Nigeria remain part of discussions surrounding preparations for the next general elections.

Youths Urged to Become Agents of Peace

Samira further urged young Nigerians to become agents of peace before, during and after the 2027 elections, stressing that they should reject attempts to manipulate them into acts capable of destroying their communities.

She appealed to youths to think about the long-term consequences of their political choices and place the interests of their communities and the country above immediate personal benefits.

According to her, young people should demand accountability from political leaders and use their votes to support candidates who can provide opportunities in education, employment, security and other areas that directly affect their future.

Call for Peaceful 2027 Election Campaigns

The ambassador also called on political actors, traditional and community leaders, women and youth organisations, as well as other stakeholders, to promote peaceful campaigns and credible democratic participation ahead of the elections.

She urged political leaders and their supporters to respect democratic processes and avoid actions that could heighten tension or threaten peaceful coexistence.

The appeal is particularly relevant as Nigeria’s political landscape continues to evolve ahead of 2027, with political parties and potential candidates positioning themselves for various elective positions.

Samira Prays for Credible Leaders to Emerge

Samira prayed for peaceful electioneering campaigns and elections across Nigeria, expressing hope that competent and responsible leaders would emerge at all levels of government.

She said Nigerians should have the opportunity to choose leaders capable of addressing the country’s major challenges, from the presidency and governorships to the Senate, House of Representatives and State Houses of Assembly.

Her call also highlights the importance of voter participation as Nigerians prepare to make decisions that could shape the country’s political direction beyond 2027.

2027 Elections Should Focus on Development

Samira emphasised that the 2027 elections should provide Nigerians with an opportunity to choose leaders capable of improving security, education, employment, infrastructure and the overall welfare of citizens.

She urged voters to look beyond immediate political benefits and consider the long-term impact of their choices on their families, communities and Nigeria as a whole.

She also encouraged women and youths to remain peaceful, informed and actively involved throughout the electoral process.

As preparations for the next general elections continue, the role of young voters and women is expected to remain an important part of the country’s 2027 election conversation.

Why Youth and Women Matter in Nigeria’s 2027 Elections

Women and young people represent important constituencies in Nigeria’s electoral process. Their participation can influence voter turnout, political mobilisation and the emergence of leaders at different levels of government.

Samira therefore urged both groups to use their electoral power responsibly, reject violence and make decisions based on the ability of candidates to deliver effective governance.

She maintained that the country’s future should not be sacrificed for temporary political rewards, urging Nigerians to prioritise peace, accountability, development and responsible leadership.

The ambassador’s message adds to the growing public conversation about how Nigerians can prepare for a peaceful and credible 2027 general election.
