Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has directed political appointees across the state to return to their constituencies and intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ododo gave the directive on Tuesday during a strategic meeting with political office holders at the Glass House, Government House, Lokoja, where he called for greater coordination, unity and direct engagement with voters.
The governor said the All Progressives Congress (APC) should work towards securing victory across all constituencies in Kogi State in the 2027 elections.
Ododo Tasks Appointees With Grassroots Engagement
According to the governor, securing the confidence of voters should not be left to a small group of political actors. He urged every appointee to regard grassroots mobilisation as a collective responsibility.
Ododo directed the appointees to reconnect with their communities, engage traditional and community leaders, youths, women and other stakeholders, while listening to their concerns.
He also asked them to communicate the policies, programmes and achievements of both the Kogi State Government and the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The governor stressed that government achievements should not remain within official documents or government offices but should be communicated directly to citizens across wards and communities.

Governor Calls for Unity Within APC
Ododo urged the political appointees to work as a united team, saying the strength of the APC in Kogi depends on effective coordination and sustained engagement with the electorate.
He said political activities ahead of the 2027 elections should focus on strategic planning, community engagement and communicating the impact of government programmes rather than complacency.
The governor also tasked the appointees with ensuring that no community, ward or constituency is left out of the mobilisation effort.
The call comes amid increasing political activity across Kogi State ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle. The Bureau Journal recently reported on the death of Ijumu Local Government APC Chairman Oyewole Mayowa Solomon after he reportedly collapsed during a party reconciliation meeting.
Kogi APC Steps Up 2027 Political Mobilisation
The governor’s directive is coming as political parties and their support structures continue preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The Bureau Journal has also reported on the appointment of BAT Vanguard National Convener Olusola Olofin to a role in the Presidential Campaign Council structure, another development reflecting the growing mobilisation around President Tinubu’s 2027 campaign.
In Kogi East, the APC has also witnessed increased mobilisation around President Tinubu. The Bureau Journal previously reported how Senator Isah Jibrin Echocho mobilised APC members in support of Tinubu during the party’s presidential primary process.

Ododo Highlights Employment Opportunities
Beyond political mobilisation, Ododo also highlighted plans by his administration to expand employment opportunities for residents of the state.
The governor referenced plans involving more than 12,000 opportunities, describing the initiative as part of his administration’s effort to improve access to employment and empower citizens.
He indicated that political mobilisation should go alongside tangible efforts to improve the lives of residents through employment, empowerment and development programmes.
2027 Election Preparations Intensify
The mobilisation directive comes against the backdrop of wider preparations for the 2027 general elections across Nigeria.
While Kogi will not hold another governorship election in 2027 because of its existing off-cycle election cycle, voters in the state will participate in other elections scheduled as part of the 2027 general elections. The Bureau Journal’s 2027 elections guide provides further information on the electoral calendar and the elections expected across Nigeria.
INEC has also continued preparations for the next electoral cycle. The commission recently restored the Yagba West II State House of Assembly constituency in Kogi following a court judgment.
Meanwhile, the APC’s broader preparations have included the emergence of candidates and political alignments across the country. The Bureau Journal recently published its report on the APC senatorial candidates emerging ahead of the 2027 elections, including candidates listed for Kogi’s three senatorial districts.
Ododo Seeks Full APC Victory in Kogi
Ododo said the strategic meeting was intended to strengthen the state’s political structure and ensure that APC members remain connected to voters at the grassroots.
He charged the appointees to translate the administration’s policies and achievements into direct engagement with communities while working collectively towards the party’s electoral objectives.
The governor’s call underscores the increasing importance of grassroots mobilisation as political parties prepare for the 2027 elections and seek to consolidate their support bases across Kogi State.
The Bureau Journal will continue to monitor political developments, electoral preparations and party activities across Kogi State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
