The Kebbi State Government has dismissed allegations that communities recovered from bandits and terrorists have been abandoned, describing the claims as false and insisting that security efforts across the state remain active despite the sensitive nature of ongoing operations.
The government said its commitment to protecting lives and property remains unwavering, adding that residents should not mistake the confidentiality surrounding security operations for inaction.
Government Rejects Opposition Claims
In a statement, the Kebbi State Government said recent claims by some opposition figures suggesting that communities reclaimed from bandits had been neglected do not reflect the reality of the state’s security efforts.
According to the government, security operations involve intelligence gathering, strategic planning and coordinated interventions that cannot always be disclosed publicly.
It stressed that the absence of public announcements regarding certain security activities should not be interpreted as a lack of action.
“It is important to correct this false impression regarding the government’s efforts to address insecurity in the state,” the statement said.
Governor Nasir Idris Leading Security Response
The government stated that Governor Nasir Idris remains actively engaged in coordinating efforts to address insecurity across Kebbi State.
It noted that the governor continues to work closely with security agencies and other relevant stakeholders to strengthen security operations and safeguard communities affected by criminal activities.
According to the statement, the administration has prioritised the protection of lives and property while supporting ongoing measures aimed at restoring normalcy in affected areas.
“The Governor is not standing on the sidelines. He is actively leading the state’s efforts against insecurity, working closely with the relevant security agencies and other critical stakeholders to safeguard lives and property,” the government stated.
Focus on Peace, Farming and Community Development
The government explained that its security strategy extends beyond combating criminal elements and includes creating a safe environment where residents can pursue their daily activities without fear.
It added that efforts are being made to ensure farmers can safely return to their farmlands, businesses can operate normally and communities can continue their social and economic activities with confidence.
The administration described peace and security as essential foundations for sustainable development across Kebbi State.
Government Urges Responsible Public Commentary
The Kebbi State Government cautioned against politicising security issues, noting that addressing insecurity requires cooperation, professionalism and confidentiality.
It argued that reducing complex security challenges to political rhetoric could undermine ongoing efforts by security agencies and government institutions.
The government urged public commentators to exercise restraint and avoid spreading misinformation capable of creating unnecessary anxiety among residents.
Kebbi Reaffirms Commitment to Lasting Security
Reaffirming its position, the government said the people of Kebbi State deserve factual information rather than sensational claims about the security situation.
It pledged to continue supporting security agencies and deploying every constitutional means available to restore lasting peace, strengthen stability and promote sustainable development across the state.
“The people of Kebbi State deserve facts, not sensationalism. The government remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting residents, supporting the security agencies, and doing everything within its constitutional powers to ensure lasting peace, security, stability and sustainable development across the state,” the statement added.
