The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) has continued efforts to strengthen healthcare financing and service delivery with the commencement of the second day of its 2026 Operational Guidelines Technical Review Workshop in Kaduna State.
The two-day workshop, held at Quarter House Hotel, Kaduna, is being organised with the support of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) Lafiya Programme and the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI).
The workshop has brought together technical experts, healthcare professionals, development partners and other key stakeholders to review and improve the agency’s operational framework.
Workshop Focuses on 2026 Operational Guidelines
The exercise is aimed at refining the 2026 KSCHMA Operational Guidelines to align with the provisions of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Act 2022, the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) 2.0 Guidelines and internationally recognised best practices in contributory healthcare management.
Participants are examining key operational policies and implementation strategies to ensure that the revised guidelines promote greater efficiency, transparency and accountability while improving access to quality healthcare services across Kano State.
Technical Deliberations Underway
Day Two of the workshop is focused on intensive technical deliberations, validation of proposed amendments and the development of practical recommendations that will inform the final version of the 2026 Operational Guidelines.
The outcome of the review is expected to provide a stronger framework for the effective implementation of the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Scheme and improve the agency’s capacity to deliver healthcare financing services to residents.
KSCHMA Reaffirms Commitment to Universal Health Coverage
Officials said the review exercise demonstrates KSCHMA’s commitment to continuous institutional improvement and the provision of accessible, affordable and high-quality healthcare services to residents of Kano State.
The agency also reaffirmed its resolve to work closely with government institutions, development partners and other stakeholders to strengthen the state’s health insurance system and expand healthcare coverage.
KSCHMA said the initiative is part of broader efforts to advance universal health coverage in Kano State while aligning the state’s healthcare financing system with ongoing national health sector reforms.
