BIRNIN KEBBI, Nigeria — Barrister Ibrahim Birema has obtained the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nomination form to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing the Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo and Bunza Federal Constituency in Kebbi State.
The young legal practitioner said his decision to enter politics was driven by a desire to expand his public service impact and create stronger opportunities for youth participation in governance and policymaking.
Birema Says Youth Need Stronger Representation
Speaking in a telephone interview, Birema said he is taking a temporary break from legal practice to pursue elective office and help reshape legislative representation for young Nigerians.
He noted that many youths remain dissatisfied with the quality of representation in the National Assembly and believe their interests are not adequately reflected in public policy.
“As a young lawyer, I believe I need a wider platform to make a positive impact and contribute meaningfully to the development of our constituency and the country,” he said.
Promises Youth-Friendly Policies
Birema pledged to champion policies focused on youth empowerment, inclusive governance and grassroots development if elected to the Green Chamber.
He said his experience in student leadership and grassroots politics has prepared him to deliver purposeful representation.
Appeal to Kebbi Youth
The PDP aspirant urged young people in Kebbi State to rally behind his ambition, describing his candidacy as a call to service rather than a pursuit of personal gain.
He warned against supporting politicians motivated solely by financial interests, arguing that such leadership rarely delivers meaningful progress.
Family Support and Political Encouragement
Birema, who is a son-in-law of former Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, acknowledged the encouragement and moral support he has received from his family.
He expressed confidence that, if given a fair contest, he would offer energetic and responsive representation to the people of Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo and Bunza.
